The tone is tight and efficient, with a beautiful balance across both registers. The second octave speaks easily and without strain. This is new old stock direct from Glenn Schultz's own workshop. PVC as a material produces a warm, satisfying tone. The Water Weasel's fipple and windway voicing reflect the same care and craft Glenn applied across his range, and this low G example is in essentially new condition.
About the Maker
Glenn A. Schultz Sr. built his instruments in Oxford, Michigan, under his brand Thin Weasel Woodwinds. His whistles were handcrafted from exotic woods or man-made materials. The Water Weasel line used PVC, while the Thin Weasel name referred to his wooden instruments. He built a loyal following among traditional players who valued reliable tuning, clear tone, and no-fuss playability, and though modest in materials, the Water Weasels reflect real care and skill in their construction. He mentored fellow maker Paul Busman.
