This unmarked English 8-key flute in cocus wood is of unknown origin but beautifully made. It produces a nice strong tone and features large finger holes with keys extending down to low C. The flute plays at A=440 with the slide extended approximately 11mm. The A note plays slightly sharp but could be tuned down with wax or shellac — given the larger hole size, this adjustment would have little impact on projection.

This instrument comes from the collection of the late Mickie Zeckley, who was known for his vast and varied flute collection. Recently restored to excellent condition, the headjoint liner has been pulled and reglued/sealed, and cracks in the headjoint and barrel were expertly repaired by Matthew Slauson. The keys have fresh pads. Sounding length is 572mm.
