Note from luthier Jonathan Walpole who peformed the restoration:
"This flute does not bear any maker's marks, but judging by its bore dimensions, tuning profile, and the type of wood, I'd say it is most likely American made and over 100 years old.
It has a small bore and small tone holes, which is typical of American flutes of that period. It has been meticulously restored to full playing condition.
It will suite players who like a flute with low breath requirements. It responds well to a gentle touch and focused embouchure and the small tone holes enable crisp ornaments.
It is made from cocuswood with German Silver keys, rings and tuning slide. This one has had its bore re-reamed with the reamers I use to make my F. Riley replica (small bore, small tone holed American flute). It is in tune at A=440 with a tuning slide extension of around 10 mm."
