This alto recorder was made in the workshops of Dutch recorder maker Hans Coolsma. It was originally purchased from The Early Music Shop in 2001. The instrument is constructed from European boxwood with a three-piece design and features a bushed thumbhole. It is pitched at A=442 Hz and uses Baroque fingering with double holes.
Coolsma recorders are designed with a curved windway that produces a responsive and direct sound. This alto plays well in both baroque and contemporary repertoire. The tone is rich with a strong bell note. There is a very small nick on the labium that does not affect the playability or tone of the instrument.
The recorder comes with a hard case.
