A flute with real power. This is one of Hammy's large-holed models, and it speaks with a quick and ready response and a blistering bottom D, playing as strong and as powerful as you like. Intonation is excellent throughout.
The flute is in excellent condition. The upper tenon is missing its tenon cap, which has no effect on playing and only asks for a little extra care in handling. A padded Jean Cavallaro soft case is included.
About the Maker
Hammy Hamilton was born in Belfast in 1953, and in 1979 he set up one of the first flute workshops in Ireland, and one of the first devoted to flutes made specifically for Irish music. Working in Coolea in the West Cork Gaeltacht, he based most of his flutes on the Pratten design without making copies of it. He is also the author of The Irish Flute Player's Handbook. His order book has been closed since 2018, though he still takes on some restorations.
