A large bore Low A whistle in as-new condition, sourced directly from the maker's own stock and never previously sold. The body is turned from birdseye maple with stainless fittings.
The tone is wide and full, with a robust, woody character that carries real weight across both registers. The bottom A speaks with particular strength, and the instrument projects well throughout, with excellent intonation.
The whistle shows no signs of play and comes in its original case.
About the Maker
Glenn A. Schultz Sr. worked out of Oxford, Michigan under the Thin Weasel Woodwinds name. He built a loyal following among traditional players who valued his instruments for their excellent tuning, clear tone, and no-fuss playability. Beyond his Water Weasel line in PVC, he also produced the Thin Weasel, a wooden version of the design. Schultz was also known for mentoring fellow whistle maker Paul Busman. His wooden instruments, particularly in less common keys and exotic materials, are genuinely scarce on the secondary market, and a low A in birdseye maple from his back stock is a find by any measure.
